The best Shiraz Wine that I know today is the one from Down Under! You can call this type of red wine anything but the fact remains that this is one of not the best type of red wine I know when it comes chiraz, Syrah or Shiraz wine. Period!
Whether you call it Syrah or Shiraz, it is the same grape, different name. When your in Australia or South Africa, it is known as Shiraz. Go to France, the United States, Argentina or Chile, it is known as Syrah. Only about forty percent of all wine produced in Australia is Shiraz wine. It is the countries most popular wine.
Big on Flavor
Shiraz wine is a very dark red in color that it almost appears black. Australia’s Shiraz wine has a big, bold flavor of blackberry, plum, chocolate and spice. In France, Syrah shares the same flavor profile, but more subtle. Shiraz wine is at its peak of flavor when it is young within five years after bottling. For the best taste serve this wine at a chilly temperature of 64 degrees F.
Pairing With Food
Shiraz is a big bodied wine that could stand up and compliment beef and lamb dishes. With its spicy notes, it is great when eating Mexican dish. When pairing this wine remember to only drink it with full-bodied dishes. A delicate dish such as fish will be over powered with such a choice. Your meals need balance so if your not sure ask your server to recommend something for you.
Serving
Let the bottle of wine to sit unopened and reach a temperature of 60-95 degrees. If you allow it to get any warmer than that you will not be bringing out the best flavors in the wine itself. When opened allow it to rest and breathe up to one hour before serving. Once it has rested y pour a glassful and allow the glass to sit a bit before sipping.Once it has rested you can pour it off and serve it to your guests.
Not matter what region or country the wine is produced Shiraz wine will be a big bold dry wine. It is fruity, spicy, citrus, floral and earthy. It stand up well to big bold flavored meals. You can also drink it on its own. It is a smooth easy sipping wine.

I’m trying to determine the best years for California shariz…….how well does it store…how long.
Are there any special years from 2000 on…..I was told 2002 is too old to drink, and
I was of the opinion, that well stored wines from the 1970s, 80s, and 90s….are excellent.
again, if stored well and corks kept moist, how “old” is ok…what is not. Any help 305 992 0702
